USPAP and Current Issues Update

Lisa DesmaraisLisa Desmarais – Vice President of The Appraisal Foundation

In this presentation, Lisa will provide the latest updates on the work being done by The Appraisal Foundation's Appraisal Standards Board (ASB) and Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB). Attendees will learn about the ASB's changes to USPAP and how they impact appraisal practices, as well as the AQB's new continuing education requirements that appraisers will need to meet going forward.

The Impact of Swine Feedlots on Residential Values in Southern Minnesota

Zach UterZach Uter – MS Applied Economics at University of Minnesota

Attendees will gain an understanding of the size and importance of the Minnesota pork industry and learn about the impacts that swine feedlots have on residential values in southern areas of the state. This research in this study utilizes hedonic pricing analysis using secondary data sources and ArcGIS (a Geospatial Information System). Implications of the results as well as the research process will be discussed.

Wind & Solar Property Rights, Appraisal Issues

This session will provide an overview of the wind and solar industries in the United States and the challenges and opportunities posed by renewable development on agricultural land. The session will evaluate the impacts of renewable development on agricultural land uses as well as the obligations of developers and landowners under common renewable energy development agreements. This presentation will also include information to help appraisers and farm managers evaluate the economic impacts of renewable development on agricultural lands.

The State of the Food Industry and its Machinery and Equipment

Otto CuylerOtto Cuyler – President, Cuyler FoodPro Appraisal

Participants will hear a history of the industrial food processing industry, it's machinery and equipment, as well as  appraisal/valuation considerations for asset based lending. Discussion will cover the nuances of food machinery valuation, considering depreciation, equipment tiers and lending nuances. This session offers insights for appraisers on how to evaluate diverse comp sources, anticipate market shifts and factor in consumer demands.
